Srinagar : After an unusually long wait Grand Mufti Nasir

Islam late on Wednesday announced that Eid-al-Fitr will be celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. He said evidence of moon sightings were received by him from different parts of Kashmir.

Mufti’s message followed a late night announcement by the Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declaring Thursday as Eid-al-Fitr.

Earlier Ministry of Science and Technology in Pakistan had ruled out new moon sightings on Wednesday saying the moon can only be seen when it is 20 hours and 40 minutes old.
