Weather In Kashmir To Remain Dry For 3 Days

Srinagar: The meteorological department on Tuesday predicted rain and thunderstorm at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir till May 12 and ''mainly dry weather'' for next three days.

''Rain and thunderstorm is most likely to occur at scattered places of Jammu and Kashmir today and tomorrow (May 12). Thereafter, expect mainly dry weather for subsequent 3 days,'' an official of the local meteorological department said.

''There’s no forecast of any major rainfall this week,'' he said.

Regarding Ladakh, he said mainly dry weather is most likely during for next one week. However, he said light rain or snow may occur at isolated places on higher reaches.

Meanwhile, the official said that Srinagar received 9.1mm of rainfall during the last 24 hours till 0830 hours. The summer capital of J & K recorded a low of 12.6 degree Celsius against 10.7 degree Celsius on the previous night which is 2.0 degree Celsius above normal for this time of the season, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 10.8 degree Celsius and received 15.2mm of rain during the time, the official said.

Pahalgam, the famous tourist resort in South Kashmir, recorded a low of 8.5 degree Celsius against normal of 5.1 degree Celsius while it had rainfall of 2.6mm during the time.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 10.3 degree Celsius against normal of 9.3 degree Celsius while it had 12.2mm of rainfall, the official said.

Kupwara received 2.6mm of rain and recorded a low of 10.5 degree Celsius against 9.6 degree Celsius normal for this time of the season in north Kashmir district, the official said.

Gulmarg, the famous skiing resort in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, recorded a low of 5.0 degree Celsius against normal of 5.5 degree Celsius for this time of the year while it has 4.2mm of rain in the last 24 hours during the time, the official said.
