Ukraine ready to introduce any model of vaccine passport for trips to EU

(MENAFN- UkrinForm)The Government of Ukraine is ready to introduce any model of COVID-19 vaccine passport that would allow for free travel to Europe.

"We are ready to introduce any model of vaccine passport that is possible in Europe, a digital one with a QR code, a formalized certificate of vaccination of international standard, which is currently valid worldwide," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

According to the Prime Minister, all people vaccinated against COVID are registered in the eHealth electronic system.

"Therefore, it is not difficult technologically to issue all vaccinated persons with vaccine passports which will be approved in any international form," he said.

At the same time, Shmyhal does not consider it expedient to negotiate the opening of borders with individual countries.

"The whole world today is talking about unification and non-discrimination. It is impossible for the two countries to agree and all the others to be left out," the PM added.

In June, the EU plans to launch a system of COVID-19 vaccine passports. This will allow those citizens, who were vaccinated against the coronavirus with the EU-approved medicines, to travel to European countries. So far, there are four such vaccines in the EU: Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.
