Amir Cup final postponed to allow fans in stadium

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced the postponement of the final of the forty-ninth edition of the Amir Cup, which was scheduled for Friday, May 14, at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al-Sadd Sports Club, between Al-Sadd Club and Al-Rayyan Club.

''The new date for the final will be announced later after full coordination with all the relevant authorities, especially the Ministry of Public Health,” QFA said.

The decision to shift the game came after the announcement of gradual lifting of restrictions that were imposed in the country to limit the spread of the Covid-19.

The new health protocols, especially with regard to local and international sporting events, will allow public attendance up to certain percentage of the stadium capacity on the condition that the fans are fully vaccinated.

The decision to postpone the final came as the championship always witnessed large presence of fans especially for matches between Al Sadd Club and Al-Rayyan Club.
