Worldwide semiconductor proceeds rise 10.8 pct in 2020

(MENAFN) An industry report said that in spite of the effect of coronavirus on the international economy, the semiconductor market did well last year.

The International Data Corporation (IDC), a global market research company stated that worldwide semiconductor proceeds expanded to USD464 billion last year, a rise of 10.8 percent in comparison with 2019.

The IDC noted that the market for semiconductors in computing systems like PCs and servers outpaced the whole semiconductor market, and expansion in mobile phone semiconductors was flexible last year.

Automotive sales rebounded in the second half of the past year, nonetheless, supply restraints in the automotive semiconductor market will go on through 2021 for some products. IDC researcher Nina Turner noted that this is because of the market effect of fires and fab shutdowns, and it takes time for chips to move through the automotive ecosystem, particularly in the United States and Europe.
