64 Palestinian people wounded as fights with Israeli police carry on in East Jerusalem

(MENAFN) A report by local media said that on Saturday evening, May. 8 at least 64 Palestinian people were wounded in protests and aggressive fights close to Damascus Gate in East Jerusalem.

The Israeli police separated the protestors with stun grenades, water cannon vehicles, mounted officers, and other methods, stated the Isreali state-owned Kan News.

Fights broke out after praying of Laylat al-Qadr, the holiest night in the Muslim month of Ramadan. The praying occurred at Al-Aqsa Mosque and around 80,000 worshipers attended the prayer.

Israeli police noted it was obligated to operate after Palestinian people who gathered close to the Old City's Damascus Gate started throwing stones, bottles, fireworks, and explosives at police officers.
