U.S.: 11 wounded in balcony collapse close to Los Angeles


(MENAFN) Local officials and media reports said that on Saturday, May. 8 a rented residential balcony collapsed close to California's city of Los Angeles, wounding 11 wounded.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department stated that the collapse occurred on a rocky beach in Malibu, a city west of Los Angeles, at around 5:30 p.m. local time (0030 GMT on Sunday), and a group of people fell down over jagged rocks and large boulders three to 4.5 meters below the colony.

The department noted that amongst the wounded, two in severe conditions were sent to trauma centers right away, four with moderate wounds were also hospitalized, and another five were treated at the site.

According to media reports, about 15 people were standing on the balcony deck when the occurrence took place, who were reportedly attending a large social gathering.
