Amanda Howell teaches screen studies in the School of Humanities, Languages, and Social Sciences at Griffith University, where she convenes courses in Hollywood, World, and Auteur cinemas. She is an expert on contemporary American cinema, television, and screen cultures, her research focusing on gender, genre, and screen aesthetics in a sociohistorical frame.
Currently, she is completing a monograph with co-author Lucy Baker for Palgrave entitled _Monstrous Possibilities: The Female Monster in 21st Century Screen Horror_. Focused on a varied international array of screen entertainments, this study maps the converged and rapidly changing environment of 21st century screen cultures to situate the transformed and transformative figure of the monstrous female anti-hero as one of its distinctive products
