Costa Rica covid daily death toll hits 18


(MENAFN- Newsroom Panama) Costa Rica’s Covid-19  crisis continues to build and in the last seven days, it registered a daily average of 18 deaths, say  the  country’s health authorities.

According to a report by the newspaper La Nación, Monday, May 3, the highest number of deaths was reported with 24.

It is highlighted that until yesterday, May 5, the Costa Rican nation accumulated 260,535 cases and that of that total, 41,373 were confirmed in the last 30 days.

Currently, the active cases total 47,874 and there are 1,123 hospitalized, of which 405 are in intensive care.

In the province of Chiriquí, which is the epicenter           of the virus in Panama  and on the border with Costa Rica, health surveillance has been redoubled to prevent the spread.
