Nineteen coronavirus related deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today, the highest number of deaths linked to the virus reported in a day in Sri Lanka.
The death toll from the virus in Sri Lanka has now risen to 764.
The latest victims include a female inmate of the Welikada Prison.
The Government said that one victim is a 63-year-old female resident of Sunandapura. She died at the Iranawila Covid treatment centre.
The second victim is a 75-year-old female resident of Ilavalai. She died at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
The third victim is a 60-year-old male resident in Kongahawela. She died at the Dambulla General Hospital.
The fourth victim is an 86-year-old male resident of Rathmalana. He died at the Colombo National Hospital.
The fifth victim is a 54-year-old female resident of Dehiaththakandiya. She died at the Badulla General Hospital.
The sixth victim is a 72-year-old male resident of Mailagasthenna, Badulla. He died at the Badulla General Hospital.
The seventh victim is a 72-year-old female resident of Wadduwa. She died while receiving treatment at the Kothalawala Defence University Hospital.
The eighth victim is a 53-year-old male resident of Colombo 03. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo.
The ninth victim is a 68 year old male resident of Raddolugama. He died while recieving treatment at the chest hospital in Welisara. The cause of death is
mentioned as Covid pneumonia.
10. The deceased is a 45 year old female resident in Ragama. She was diagnosed as
infected with Covid 19 virus while undergoing treatments in Colombo North Teaching
Hospital and transferred to Base Hospital Minuwangoda. She died on 04.05.2021 and
the cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.
11. The deceased is a 68 year old female and died on 05.05.2021 in Welikada prison. The cause
of death is mentioned as COVID 19 Pneumonia, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Chronic
Kidney disease, Ischemic heart disease and Pulmonary TB.
12. The deceased is an 82 year old male resident in Poddala. He died on 06.05.2021 in his
residence. The cause of death is mentioned as Covid pneumonia.
13. The deceased is a 50 year old male resident in Alapaladeniya. He was transferred from Covid
Treatment Centre Arachchikanda to the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya where he died on
06.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID 19 pneumonia .
14. The deceased is a 65 year old male resident in Poddala. He was transferred from Covid
Treatment Centre Arachchikanda to the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya where he died on
06.05.2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID 19 pneumonia .
15. The deceased is a 80 year old female resident in Angulugaha. She died on 06.05.2021 in her
residence and the cause of death is mentioned as Covid 19 pneumonia.
16. The deceased is a 65 year old female resident in Hikkaduwa. She died on 06.05.2021
while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. The cause of death is
mentioned as Covid 19 pneumonia.
17. The deceased is a 74 year old male resident in Agulugaha. He died on 07.05.2021
while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Karapitiya. The cause of death is
mentioned as Covid 19 pneumonia.
18. The deceased is a 75 year old male resident in Hawaeliya. He died on 05.05.2021 on
admission to the District General Hospital Nuwara Eliya. The cause of death is
mentioned as COVID 19 infection.
19. The deceased is a76 year old male resident in Anuradhapura. He died on 07.05.2021
while undergoing treatments in Teaching Hospital Anuradhapura. The cause of death
is mentioned as severe acute respiratory syndrome due to COVID 19 infection.
