AU assigns diplomat to help resolve crisis in Somalia


(MENAFN) The African Union Commission on Saturday, May 8, assigned former President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama as High Representative to Somalia to aid resolve the political crisis on the belated elections.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairperson of African Union Commission statedthat Mahama will work with the Somali investors to hit a mutually suitable compromise towards an all-inclusive resolution for the holding of Somali elections as soon as possible.

Mahamat stated in a report released in Mogadishu that Mahama will be maintained by African Union Mission in Somalia to guarantee that the intercession efforts and the peace support operation work together seamlessly.

He supported all the Somali investors and the global community to expand every support to the special diplomat who is due in the country in the coming days.
