Saudi Arabia revives King Fahd Causeway


(MENAFN)The Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that the reviving of the King Fahd Causeway that links Bahrain to Saudi Arabia is going to tote up toUSD2.9 billion to Bahrain’s economy in 2021, according to average tourism spending in 2019.

Saudi Arabia declared that it will revive land, sea and air border crossings on May 17th.

Bahrain attracted about 11 million visitors in 2019, included 9 million were tourists. Saudis account for 88 percent of Bahrain’s visitors; the majority of them come through the causeway.

Asharrq quoted Ali Al-Mudaifa, executive director of investments at the Economic Development Board as saying that, although trade amid Bahrain and Saudi Arabia carried on throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, tourism was severely affected.
