(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) More than 839,000 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection were registered worldwide in the past day, with the overall number of such cases exceeding 155.66 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its daily bulletin on Friday, Trend reports citing TASS .
As of 18:43 (GMT+4) on May 7, as many as 155,665,214 novel coronavirus cases and 3,250,648 coronavirus-associated deaths were registered across the globe. The number of confirmed cases grew by 839,695 in the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities increased by 14,289.
The WHO statistics is based on officially confirmed data from the countries.
Southeast Asia accounts for more than a half of the COVID-19 daily tally (435,415 cases). Next are North and South America (195,918) and Europe (143,036).
The biggest number of coronavirus cases was reported from the United States (32,210,817), India (21,491,598), Brazil (14,930,183), France (5,637,714), Turkey (4,977,982), Russia (4,863,514), the United Kingdom (4,428,557), Italy (4,082,198), Spain (3,559,222), Germany (3,491,988), Argentina (3,071,496), and Colombia (2,934,611).
The biggest number of fatalities was reported from the United States (573,722), Brazil (414,399), India (234,083), Mexico (218,007), the United Kingdom (127,583), Italy (122,263), Russia (112,622), France (105,133), Germany (84,410), Spain (78,726), Colombia (76,015), and Iran (73,906).
