Qatar welcomes resumption of relations between Somalia and Kenya


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The State of Qatar has welcomed the announcement of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Kenya regarding the resumption of full diplomatic relations between them, and expressed its hope that this step would bring good and prosperity to the people of the two friendly countries.

In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the State of Qatar will spare no effort in achieving peace and stability and building bridges through mediation, activating diplomatic channels and converging views, which will enhance international peace and stability.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said in tweet that this achievement will bring prosperity and development for both countries.

He tweeted: 'We welcome the announcement of the resumption of relations between the Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Kenya, following unremitting Qatari diplomatic efforts to bring peace and stability between the two countries.

It is a new diplomatic achievement for the State of Qatar, through which we hope that it will bring prosperity and development to the two neighboring countries, their people, and the entire region.
