Ministry of Community Development, GCC Secretariat General enhance collaboration, integration in Dubai Expo


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) DUBAI, 6th May, 2021 (WAM) -- Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Community Development and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as part of consolidating joint cooperation and providing mutual support to ensure that the events agreed upon during Dubai Expo 2020 will be held to include various programmes and initiatives reflecting cooperation and integration among the GCC countries.

The MoU is part of the UAE preparation for the launch of Dubai Expo 2020, a large global event in Dubai next October, with the participation of 190 countries and 24 organisations as well as several academic institutions and companies.

The MoU was signed by Moza Ibrahim Al Akraf Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development (MoCD), and Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, the Commissioner-General of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai.

The MOU identified areas of cooperation as the MoCD, a key partner for all social and heritage events of all kinds, which will be held in the GCC Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020, allowing the two parties to host joint social events within the activities and initiatives of the GCC Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020.

As part of the MoU, the MoCD seeks to achieve and embody cooperation and integration to launch joint social programmes, initiatives and events with other pavilions.

The memorandum developed a joint action plan in accordance with a time plan and two phases between the ministry and the GCC Secretariat, starting from the first phase of the date of signing of the MoU to discuss consultations on the activities and events planned by the GCC Pavilion in partnership with the MoCD, and the second phase beginning from 1st October, 2021, until the end of Dubai Expo 2020, as agreed upon.

Speaking about this MoU, Khalid Bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, the Commissioner-General of the GCC Pavilion, said, "The GCC Pavilion, in collaboration with the MoCD, will highlight aspects of the GCC heritage and originality at Expo 2020 Dubai."

Moza Ibrahim Al Akraf Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of the MoCD, noted that the MoU is important in terms of integration in joint programmes and events, during Dubai Expo 2020, under the pavilion of the GCC Secretariat.

She also emphasised that the MoU makes everyone responsible for providing the best at both community and development level, reflecting an exemplary image of the people from the Gulf and their culture to the world as befitting the value of this extraordinary global event "Dubai Expo 2020".
