Ankara to support two-state solution in Cyprus based on sovereign equality


(MENAFN)The Turkish vice president stated that Ankara will keep its support for a two-state solution in Cyprus according to the sovereign equality of the Turkish and Greek sides on the island in all areas.

Fuat Oktay further declared that "We'll continue to advocate a two-state solution based on sovereign equality in all areas, which will mean peace and stability for the whole region, against exhausted efforts and unilateral approaches."

In new informal negotiations on the future of Cyprus took place in Geneva, the Greek Cypriot administration kept its attitude favoring deadlock on the island, he added.

He stressed that Turkey would support the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in its rightful struggle.
