Afghanistan: Explosion leaves district police dead in Paktika


(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesperson Shah Mohammad Arian has corroborated that on Wednesday, May. 5 a police district chief was confirmed dead and another two were wounded as an explosion aimed at a police van in Sar Hawza district of Afghanistan's eastern Paktika province.

The official stated that the Taliban rebels conducted massive attack on checkpoints in Dewana Baba area of the restless district late Tuesday evening, provoking heavy clash which went on for a couple of hours. The official further said that the district police chief Juma Khan was going to direct the war but an explosion hit his van leaving him immediately dead with another two wounded.

The police and the army would keep guaranteeing security in Sar Hawza and its vicinity, said the official with no further details.

Police corroborated that another explosion which hit a mini-bus of health workers outside Kabul in the morning rush hours killed one and wounded another three.
