China: Lottery sales surpass 84 bln yuan in Jan.-Mar. period
( MENAFN ) Figures from the Ministry of Finance (MOF) demonstrate that during the January-March period, lottery sales in China stood at 84.52 billion yuan (around USD13.07 billion).
The MOF stated that sales of welfare lottery tickets came to nearly USD5,2 billion during the period, whereas sports lottery sales stood at around USD7,8 billion.
During March alone, lottery sales reached around USD4,6 billion. MOF figures also demonstrate that sales in the provinces of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu and Henan were relatively high.
According to the Chinese lottery management regulations, money from ticket sales is utilized for administrative costs, public welfare venture and prize winnings.
