(MENAFN- The Conversation) I am a sociologist with a strong interest in Critical Disability Studies, as well as queer and gender studies, and cultural and media studies. I explore the way disability is socially constructed and produced through interactions with other people and the environment around us. This compliments my engagement as a disability activist in the trade union movement over the past ten years.
I am currently employed as a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham working on the AHRC-funded GCRF Network+ "Disability Under Siege" project. My work specifically focuses on investigating the impact of COVID-19 on disabled people in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, with the aim to develop an analytical framework for a disability-inclusive recovery for the UN Partnership for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
