(MENAFN - The Conversation) Senior Lecturer at Institute of Policing,
Dr Sarah Jane Fox specialises in law and enforcement, having begun her career in regulatory compliancy and policing.
My research reasons in conflicts and paradoxes – for example, between ''human rights and safety/security,'' and ''opportunities and challenges.'' Much of my current research focuses on movement/transport and, also technology (challenges and opportunities) and evolution/revolution (including societal acceptance).
Visiting Professor in Chicago, USA.
Expert areas (research and consultancy) - as listed below:
Transport law and policy
Roads Policing (extensive: including – safer/secure roads, driver training, offences, intelligent solutions, etc.)
Movements across borders/boundaries
Autonomous vehicles – including UAV's
Aviation Law and Policies (including UAV's)
Safety, security and (counter) terrorism
Policing (technology, digital policing, social acceptance, contemporary challenges and development of the profession and professional standards)
Current projects / research - focuses on technology (challenges and opportunities) and society; including transport modes and autonomous systems – such as drones (UAV's); aviation; space use; cyber perpetration and penetration and evolution/revolution (societal acceptance).
Policing in a new technological age; safety and security; and terrorism risk factors; cross border movement (monitoring and enforcement); and the lack of governance and coordination to adequately prevent, protect, pursue and respond in today's modern (cyber) world.
The research also reasons in conflicts and paradoxes – for example, between ''human rights and security,'' and ''opportunities and challenges'', where, on the one hand, there remains, (including through the cyberspace) the opportunity to collaborate and coordinate with relative ease, yet, on the other hand, there remains limitation set by man-made boundaries.
