Flash floods kill 22 people in Herat

KABUL:  Flash floods have killed 22 people in western Herat province and caused serious damages to the residents'' properties and livestock with sweeping out agricultural forms, officials said Tuesday.

A wave of muddy water engulfed Rokha village of Adraskan district and some parts of Obai district after heavy rainfall on Monday which claimed 22 lives including seven men, one woman and four children, said a statement issued by Provincial Press Desk.

Two dead bodies remained unidentified yet, the statement added.

It said that over 300 cattle died as the result of the floods.

According to the statement the disaster management committee has started operation to help and provide aid to suffering families.

Adraskan district chief along with a delegation dispatched to the affected area to help suffering people, noted the statement.

Statement said that beside Adraskan, flash floods have damaged agriculture farms and properties in all other districts of Herat province.
