I am a Professor of Creative Industries (Creative Writing) who has been researching and writing about various non-fiction genres of writing since the 1990s. Since 2011, I have also been working in the area of representation of nurses and nursing. Research interests are non-fiction writing and publishing; life writing, especially memoir and biography; food and art writing; nurses and nursing. I regularly collaborate with creative arts, mental health and Gothic scholars. I am currently undertaking a second PhD at the Australian Catholic University, writing a history of Bondi Beach.
