Afghanistan: Flash floods leave 12 dead


( MENAFN )On Tuesday, May. 4 the local administration stated that 12 persons as a minimum lost their lives as heavy showers and flash floods struck parts of Afghanistan's western province of Herat.

It stated in a report: "flash floods engulfed vast areas in Adraskan district and neighboring districts in Herat province on Monday."

A local administration source said that amongst the deceased were one woman and four kids.

The report noted that the floods also demolished dozens of residential houses and orchards in the regions and led to closure of a number of district roads to traffic.
