Nigerian police deploys motorbike forces

(MENAFN)An official stated that Nigerian police organized mounted and motorbike forces in the capital Abuja among threats of raids by armed groups and terrorists.

“The deployment you saw in the nation's capital is primarily a proactive measure intended to increase security, reassure residents, and keep criminals at bay,” Anadolu Agency quoted Frank Mba, a spokesman for Nigerian police as saying.

Special forces with motorbikes and horses were witnessed rounding areas in the central region of the capital and international airport.

The West African country has seen a series of armed raids, including the abducting of university students in the northwest Kaduna state, fueling fears of raids in some major cities.
