Iran, Iraq discuss solutions for resumption of energy supply to Iraq


(MENAFN)According to Iraqi Electricity Minister Majid Mahdi Hantoush, Iran and Iraq came into a solution on the ways for settling Baghdad’s gas debts to Tehran.

Hantoush gathered with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh on Saturday during his visit to Tehran.

The press quoted the Iraqi minister as saying that “In the meetings we had, all the ways and solutions for the resumption of Iran’s energy supply to Iraq were discussed, and certainly the cooperation [between the two sides] will continue.”

Iran did not suspend gas and electricity provide to Iraq, but there were some matters concerning the supply to power plants that were discussed in this visit, he further declared.

He added that “We reached good agreements on this issue and payment methods.”
