Rise observed in number of operating U.S. drilling rigs this week


(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 30 the weekly figures issued by Houston-based oilfield services firm Baker Hughes showed that the number of operating drilling rigs in the United States rose two to 440 rigs in the present week, a climb by 32 annually.

These operating drilling rigs comprised 342 oil rigs functioning in the U.S. oil fields, a drop by one from the prior week; 96 gas drilling rigs, a climb by two from the prior week; and two miscellaneous rigs, a rise by one from the past week.

The 440 rigs comprised 426 land drilling rigs and one inland water rig, the two the same as the past week; and 13 offshore drilling rigs, a rise by two from the past week.

Among them, 398 are horizontal drilling rigs, 19 are vertical drilling rigs and 23 are directional drilling rigs.
