Drop witnessed in number of operating U.S. drilling rigs this week


(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 23 the weekly figures issued by Houston-based oilfield services firm Baker Hughes showed that the number of operating drilling rigs in the United States dropped one to 438 rigs in the present week, a decrease by 27 annually.

These operating drilling rigs comprised 343 oil rigs functioning in the U.S. oil fields, a drop by one from the prior week; 94 gas drilling rigs and one miscellaneous rigs, both same as the past week.

The 438 rigs comprised 426 land drilling rigs and one inland water rig, both same as the past week; and 11 offshore drilling rigs, dropping by one from the past week.

Amongst them, 397 are horizontal drilling rigs, 22 are vertical drilling rigs and 19 are directional drilling rigs.
