(MENAFN) Provincial police spokesperson Ahmad Jawed Basharat stated that on Monday, Apr. 19 eight persons comprising six militants and two security members were confirmed dead as a fighting erupted in Afghanistan's northern Baghlan province.
The fighting broke out after a group of Taliban rebels assaulted the security checkpoints in Baghlan-e-Markazi district of the restless province early morning, provoking heavy fighting which went on for a couple of hours. The militants ran away after killing six.
According to the official, two security members also died in the clash. Another six security personnel and eight rebels were wounded.
Basharat noted that the security forces would keep running after the militants in Baghlan-e-Markazi region and its vicinity.
