Laos: Traffic accidents leave 30 dead in Lao New Year


(MENAFN) According to an official report, an overall of 30 people died in a number of 220 traffic accidents in Laos in a three-day celebration of the Lao New Year from April 14 until April 16.

The most recent report by the Traffic Police Department under the Lao Ministry of Public Security said that another 390 people were wounded and over 400 cars were damaged in the mentioned period.

The report noted that the majority of traffic accidents happened because of drunk driving and high speed.

The traffic police are conducting a road safety drive, particularly in schools, offering information on traffic rules and the risks of careless driving. It is intended for helping students and others have a clear understanding of traffic regulations and the danger posed by traffic accidents.
