Coronavirus cases exceed 4.4 mln in Africa


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RABAT, April 18 (KUNA) -- The Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) announced on Sunday that total Coronavirus (Covid-19) infections reached 4,410,682 cases.
The pandemic death toll all over the African countries reached 117,411, Africa CDC added.
A total of 1,939,385 million cases were registered in southern Africa, a total of 1,310,130 in northern Africa, 566,454 cases in eastern Africa, 448,665 in western the continent and cases reached 146,048 in central Africa, it said.
The pandemic death toll reached 61,196 cases in southern Africa, 37,732 cases in northern Africa, 10,260 in eastern Africa, while 5,899 fatalities were witnessed in eastern Africa and central Africa reached 2,324 deaths, it added.
Southern Africa region was the most affected part of the continent by Covid-19, at the level of infections and deaths, followed by Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt. (end)
