China: Stock market draws 2.48m new shareholders


(MENAFN)Industrial statistics revealed that around 2.48 million investors in China opened accounts to trade in stocks on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses in March.

According to the China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited (CSDC), the number marked an upsurge of 31 percent from the same period in 2020.

CSDC statistics revealed that by the end of last month, the number of shareholders with A-share accounts surpassed 183.9 million.

The country witnessed about 18.02 million new shareholders in its stock market last year, according to the CSDC. The amount augmented 36.04 percent from 2019 and reached a record high since 2017.
