Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense in a released statement said Saturday, that the Taliban suffered heavy casualties across the country.
MoD tweeted that at least 28 Taliban were killed and 28 others were wounded in Nangarhar, Laghman, Ghazni, Kandahar, Zabul, Herat, Farah and Balkh during the past 24 hours.
The ministry added, that ANDSF discovered and defused 34 IEDs placed by the Taliban on the Public roads.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Defense said 3 Taliban insurgents were killed and two others were wounded in an ANA operation in the Zherai district of Kandahar province on Saturday.
According to the report, vast areas were cleared of Taliban influence and some weapons belonging to the militant group were also seized.

In another security incident, Two civilians were killed when a Taliban mortar shell hit the main market of Balkh district in Balkh province, Balkh police told media.
This comes despite peace effort for a stable and prosper Afghanistan.
