717 Travelers in Kashmir Tested Positive in One Week

Srinagar: With the recent spurt in Covid-19 positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir, officials from the Health Department said that 3 per cent of the COVID-19 positive cases are being reported among the air travellers which is an increasing trend as compared to last year.

The official said the rate of positive cases among the air travellers has increased this time, as compared to last year.

As per the daily information bulletin, in a district-wise break up of COVID-19 positive cases in Kashmir, the number of Covid positive air travellers is an increasing trend, and during the last one week around 717 travellers have tested positive.

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir had made it mandatory for incoming visitors to go through Covid test and arrangements are in place at Srinagar Airport for COVID-19 testing.

According to the official figures a total of around 1,17,023 tourists visited the valley from June 2020 to 31 March 2021, which also included some foreign nationals. In the month of March 48,162 tourists visited the valley.

An official from the Tourism Department said that no restrictions have been placed on tourism activities, other than the already placed COVID-19 Sops and guidelines
