Xinhua news agency quoted a local official as saying on Friday that combat continued in the state’s northeastern oil-rich province of Marib with at least 82 people losing their lives in the previous 48-hour period.

The official, who asked to be mentioned without being identified, said that insurgents of the Houthi rebel group launched several attacks and targeted many areas controlled by the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces around the strategic province in the newest clash.

The source added that the Houthi armed attacks resulted in the killing of nearly 34 soldiers of the government forces stationed near Marib's main entrances.

He further noted that the government troops supported by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition got revenge from ground and air, leaving at least 48 combatants of the Houthi rebel group killed during the last two days.
