36 persons detained in Turkey in relation to 2016's failed coup


(MENAFN) Based on local media reports, a number of 36 suspects were arrested by Turkish police on Friday over their suspected links to a network with alleged charges of arranging 2016’s failed coup.


The state-run Anadolu agency said that police carried out operations as part of two separate probes chaired by prosecutor's offices in the western province of Izmir and the Anatolian province of Konya.


According to the agency, Prosecutors in Izmir ordered the detention of 75 suspects in total, including soldiers and police officers on active duty. However, Police teams have till now detained 29 of them in simultaneous operations in 49 provinces.

In the meantime, seven suspects have been arrested during the searches launched in seven provinces after the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Konya delivered detention warrants for 10 suspects, the agency said.
