Ukraine- Agrarian Policy Ministry receives budget needed to launch the ministry - Leshchenko

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has received needed funds for the full-fledged launch of the ministry, Ukrinform reports with reference to the ministry's press service.

On April 15, 275 MPs supported amendments to the state budget of Ukraine, which provide for the activities of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Roman Leshchenko stressed that the decision by the previous government on the ministry's reorganization was revised, as all over the world, the agricultural sector is managed by a separate ministry, which shapes the policy and outlines the development of the industry.

"We are actually starting from scratch, thus the issue of resources was a priority. Soon we will be able to support farmers and the industry, complete land reform, launch irrigation and reclamation reform, fight for new export markets and investment for the agricultural sector, etc, he said.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers on December 28, 2020 adopted a draft resolution to abolish the decision on the reorganization of the Agrarian Policy Ministry by joining it to the Economy Ministry.

Under a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of December 17, Roman Leshchenko was appointed as Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine. According to the law on central executive bodies, the ministry is created, liquidated and reorganized by the Cabinet of Ministers following a relevant motion from the Prime Minister.
