Azerbaijan shares data on cancelled tender, quotation poll results

Results of 230 tenders and 1,061 quotations polls were canceled in Azerbaijan, due to the revealed violations, Sahib Mammadov, Deputy Head - Acting Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Market Supervision under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, said.

Mammadov made the remark at 'Purchase and Sale Procedures: Ensuring Competition and Efficiency' online event attended by representatives of organizations and enterprises responsible for public procurement, Trend reports on Apr.16 referring to the state service.

He said that after the liberation of Azerbaijan's territories from Armenian occupation in the Second Karabakh War from late Sept. through early Nov.2020, under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, large-scale reconstruction and restoration work began in the territories.

Mammadov noted in this context the importance of meeting with representatives of companies involved in the implementation of infrastructure projects.

According to him, improvements in the field of public procurement in recent years, the creation of a single electronic portal in this area, holding open tenders, increasing transparency, and expanding opportunities for healthy competition have laid the foundation for the active participation of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in public procurement.

It was noted at the event that during the procurement through tenders last year, 8.03 percent of public funds were economized, which is 12.8 percent more than in 2019.

Due to the revealed violations, the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Market Supervision canceled the results of 230 tenders and 1,061 quotation polls.
