Tokyo shares settle marginally higher before earnings

(MENAFN) On Thursday, Apr. 15 Tokyo shares closed slightly higher as shareholders avoided making daring moves before earnings reports from key Japanese companies, while current worries regarding increasing coronavirus infections capped the market's upside.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 21.70 points, or 0.07 percent, from Wednesday to end the day at 29,642.69.

In the meantime, the broader Topix indicator of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange climbed 6.95 points, or 0.36 percent, to close at 1,959.13.

Among those that advanced the most by the end of play were marine transport, mining and oil and coal product-related issues.
