Climb observed in U.S. agricultural futures

(MENAFN) On Tuesday, Apr. 13 Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures climbed over the board, with corn on the lead.

The most active corn contract for delivery of May rose 11 cents, or 1.93 percent, to close at USD5.8 a bushel. July wheat increased 2.25 cents, or 0.36 percent, to close at USD6.335 a bushel. May soybean added 7.5 cents, or 0.54 percent, to settle at USD13.895 a bushel.

CBOT agricultural futures climbed with corn futures pacing the progress on narrowing local cash supplies amidst unfavorable weather for the 2021 Brazilian winter corn crop. According to Chicago-based research firm AgResource, soybeans and wheat came after corn.

U.S. consumer prices jumped a considerable 2.6 percent last month from a year ago. The increase in gasoline prices made up for over half of the gain amidst speedily expanding U.S. economy.
