Jordan records 96 new COVID deaths, 4,775 infections on Thursday

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 8 (Petra) – Ninety-six (96) new deaths and 4,775 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Thursday.
With today's fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 655,456 and 7,565 respectively, since the outbreak began in March last year, according to a joint Prime Ministry and Ministry of Health daily brief.
Amman saw 1,841 new infections followed by Irbid 894, Zarqa 688, Balqa 239, Karak 215, Mafraq 188, Aqaba 163, Madaba 130, Ajloun 113, Ma'an 109, Tafileh 106, and 89 cases in Jerash.
The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 342, while 337 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
According to the brief, the total number of recoveries recorded Thursday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 6,444, bringing the total to 576,771 since the outbreak began.
Additionally, the number of cases that are still at hospitals has reached 2,933.
With regard to testing, 39,735 tests were conducted Thursday, 12.02 percent of which were positive. The total number of tests conducted since March last year has increased to 6,238,652.
