(MENAFN) Instead of interfering in the domestic affairs of other nations, British parliamentarians and US congressmen should think for the health of their own citizens and handle their own affairs well, a Foreign Ministry official said on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a press briefing when commenting on British and U.S. doubts about the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong" and accusations that China violated the Sino-British Joint Declaration, "Elected by their voters, they have no right to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, but are expected to do practical deeds for their own people,"
She claimed that the concept of "patriots administering" has long been a prevalent practice in all countries around the world, noting that the United Kingdom, the United States, and other countries have long-established, strict requirements for patriotism and loyalty in their laws, especially for public-official loyalty to the government.
She argued that the British criticism levied against China lacks evidence and reverses the black-and-white divide.
