Qatar- Traffic Dept to register motorbikes, delivery companies

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Colonel Mohamed Radi al-Hajri, director of the Awareness and Information Department at the General Directorate of Traffic, told Qatar Radio Tuesday morning, that the Traffic Department has been working on establishing a special committee to register all the motorbikes and delivery companies that own them with the aim of focusing traffic awareness programmes.

Speaking at the popular programme "My beloved country good morning", he stressed the need for targeting these categories of motorists and enhance their traffic awareness. He said that the number of these motorbikes has increased with thousands of them on the roads of the country, which could normally result in road accidents and traffic violations.

He explained that a motorbike is considered as a vehicle with registration and plate number and the traffic lights and radars can capture their violations. Accordingly the traffic Department is exerting efforts to enhance safe driving practices on the roads. He added that for instance the Department has  collaborated with Qatar Post to organise awareness lectures on related issues for its motorists, as it has a good number of such motorbikes used in its daily operations.
