Doha: President of the Republic of Maldives H E Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and H E Fazna Ahmed, wife of HE the President of Maldives, and the accompanying delegation visited the Museum of Islamic Art yesterday, as part of their current visit to the country.
The President toured the various sections of the museum and viewed its collections of Islamic antiquities and artifacts that include rare treasures of heritage, including books, manuscripts and coins made of silver, copper and bronze, in addition to items made of glass, ivory, textiles, wood and precious stones, and artifacts collected from three continents that date 14 centuries back.
The President of Maldives also toured 'A Falcon's Eye: Tribute to Sheikh Saoud Al-Thani' exhibition that is being held at the Museum of Islamic Art, which includes nearly 300 art works and antiquities acquired by Sheikh Saoud Al Thani. The President of Maldives listened to an explanation about the establishment of the Museum of Islamic Art and its role in spreading science, culture and arts, concluding his visit by signing in the museum's golden record.
