Qatar- High tide reaches more than 2 metres QMD issues marine warning


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Doha: Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has urged to avoid all marine activities as the wave height currently range between 8-12 FT, with strong north-westerly wind reaching 33 KT according to the latest observations. 

QMD also said that some coasts in Qatar, especially the southeast, witnessed high tides along with strong north-westerly winds and the height of the high tide this morning reached more than 2 metres.

'The high tides are natural phenomenon that occurs frequently with the beginning and middle of the Hijri month, QMD said.

The Meteorological Department called on everyone, especially for periods during which a marine warning is issued, to call 44480444 before undertaking any cruise.

Many social media users were sharing pictures and videos of high tide flooding camps and tents on the coasts. Strong winds and dust were reported at many places last night. 

QMD urged citizens and residents to avoid all marine activities during this period, including:
1. Free swimming
2. Boat trips
3. Scuba diving
4. Free diving
5. Surfing
6. Fishing tours
7. Windsurfing
