(MENAFN)Wang Zhigang, minister of science and technology, stated that China will spend more in basic research throughout the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) period, with such support anticipated to hit over 8 percent of all research and development (R&D) spending.
China will also devise a 10-year action arrangement for basic research, Wang stated on the sidelines of the yearly national legislative session.
The central government's financial support for basic research doubled over the last five years, and the support for basic research is expected at 6.16 percent of its total R&D spending in 2020, Wang added.
