Qatar- Transactions via Hukoomi rise by over 85% in Jan


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) The number of people using Hukoomi, Qatar's official e-government portal, has risen sharply in January this year. Total transactions via Hukoomi surged 85.1 percent during January this year, compared to the same month in 2020 while the transactions registered an increase of 11.5 percent compared to December 2020, according to monthly statistics released yesterday by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA). One of the most noticeable changes in this issue is the rise in Qatar Stock Exchange Index, which reached 10,474 points during January 2021, a monthly increase of 0.4 percent compared to December 2020, and an annual rise of 0.3% compared to January 2020. As per the 85th issue of the ‘Qatar; Monthly Statistics' bulletin, there was an increase in number of ships arriving at Qatar's ports and total net tonnage of ships, at a monthly rate of 2 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively (compared to December 2020). Regarding the data of building permits issued, 1,382 permits were allotted in January 2021, recording a monthly increase of 42.2 percent and an annual rise of 98.6 percent. The demographic statistics revealed that Qatar's total population has decreased from 2.77 million during January 2020 to 2.67 million at the end of January 2021. In traffic accident cases except the accidents without injuries, a total of 661 traffic cases were recorded during January 2021, showing a monthly increase of 5.1 percent and an annual decrease of 4.6 percent.

Light injuries accounted for the vast majority of traffic accident cases during the month, with 89 percent, followed by severe injuries by 9 percent. However, 16 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2 percent of total traffic accident cases. The total number of registered new vehicles during January 2021 reached 5,468 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 6.1 percent and an annual decrease of 7.7 percent. Regarding vital statistics, 1,934 live births were registered during January 2021. There was a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 5 percent compared to the previous month. On the other hand, 212 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 4.1 percent compared to December 2020. Moreover, January 2021 experienced a monthly decrease of 1.7 percent and 8 percent, respectively, in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 404 contracts, whereas there were a total of 195 divorce cases. As for the social security statements, it reached QR82m in January 2021 for 14,497 beneficiaries, recording a monthly decrease of 1.1 percent for the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.3 percent for the number of beneficiaries of social security. Total electricity consumption during January 2021 was 2562.0 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 6 percent and an annual decrease of 2.6 percent. In the banking sector, Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR596.6bn during January 2021, an annual increase of 0.8 percent compared to January 2020. w On the other hand, cash equivalents, including commercial bank deposits, attained QR901.1bn during January 2021. The figure had recorded an annual increase of 3.2 percent compared to January 2020, when deposits recorded approximately QR872.9bn.
