Vietnamese garment posts steady export in January, February

(MENAFN) Vietnam's textile and garment export revenue totaled nearly 4.8 billion U.S. dollars in the first two months of this year, down just 0.01 percent against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office on Thursday.

During February alone, the country's textile and garment export fell 6.4 percent annually to USD2.1 billion amidst effects of the most recent wave of new coronavirus infections in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association stated that throughout the two-month period, local garment companies have been continuously getting new orders. The association noted that the expansion in new orders was because of the revival of global demand after the introduction of coronavirus vaccines around the globe.

The statistics office reported that last year, the country registered an export turnover of about USD29.5 billion from textile and garment produce, a decrease by 10.2 percent from 2019. Its greatest export markets comprised China, Japan, the European Union, South Korea and the United States.
