Jordan- Labor minister, US envoy discuss cooperation, investment

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Mar. 3 (Petra) -- Minister of Labor and State Minister for Investment Affairs, Maen Qatamin, Wednesday met with the U.S. Ambassador to Jordan, Henry Wooster, to discuss issues of common interest between the two countries.
During the meeting, Qatamin said that the government is working to make a qualitative leap in the environment for doing business, so that it supports existing investments and attracts new ones, both Arab and foreign, indicating that the government will develop a new plan to increase the volume of investments in the Kingdom in coordination with the Investment Council of the Jordan Investment Commission.
The government, he added, is committed to attracting investments and removing obstacles facing investors, because reducing unemployment rates can only be achieved through an increase in the volume of investments, which in turn leads to an increase in economic growth rates.
Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is looking forward to strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two countries under the new Biden administration, and it is also looking forward to continuing coordination and consultation at all levels, the minister stated.
For his part, the American envoy underlined his country's commitment to enhance cooperation and coordination with Jordan, lauding the strength of bilateral ties.
Wooster stressed that Jordan is one of the most stable countries in the region, which enables it to be an attractive investments environment that contributes significantly to reducing unemployment rates, especially post-COVID-19 pandemic.
He pointed out that there is a considerable opportunity for Jordan to be one of the most important investor destinations in the region, underscoring his country's commitment to continue working and coordinating with Jordan to overcome the economic challenges posed by the pandemic.
