Iran’s frozen funds in S. Korea to be transferred to Iran-Switzerland financial channel


(MENAFN)About USD1 billion of Iran’s frozen funds in South Korea are going to be taken to an Iran-Switzerland financial channel to be paid for foodstuff, medicine, and medical equipment, according to Head of Iran-South Korea Joint Chamber of Commerce.

The medicine items that will be imported into the country were discussed and determined in management with the Health Ministry, stated Hossein Tanhaei.

The stated growth concerning the release of Iranian frozen funds in South Korea were accomplished after an assembly amid the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnaser Hemmati and the South Korean Ambassador to Tehran Ryu Jeong-Hyun on Monday.

Both sides discussed the ways and protocols for assigning a part of Iranian funds in South Korea for purchasing basic commodities from third countries, during the assembly which was on the invitation of the South Korean embassy.
