(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) JEDDAH, Jan 26 (KUNA) -- The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has shot down two explosive aerial drones, launched by Houthi militia, targetting a civilian-populated city in southern Saudi Arabia, its spokesman said on Friday.
"Joint Coalition Forces have intercepted and destroyed this afternoon (Friday) a bomb-laden UAV launched systematically and deliberately by the terrorist Houthi militia to target civilians and civilian objects in the Southern Region (of Saudi Arabia)," Brig Gen Turki Al-Malki said in a statement carried by Saudi state news agency, SPA.
"These acts of aggression to deliberately and systematically target civilians and civilian objects by the terrorist, Iran-backed Houthi militia amount to war crimes."
The Coalition will continue to undertake "all necessary operational procedures" to safeguard civilian lives and locations "in accordance with the customary international humanitarian law," he warned. (end)
